Hi there, last week one of our APs went into an Isolated state. So I took it off the wall and got it hooked up in my office where it plays ok.

When I take it back to its location it goes back to isolated. Looking at the light srquence it looks though it's struggling connecting to the gateway. I have reset the AP and re-imported it etc but this hasn't made any difference. Anyone got any ideas? Check your Vlans,IP addresses etc as this will be your issue. Last edited 16th December at PM. Cheers for the response. I have also let it grab a dhcp address to see if that sorts it out but still no joy. Have you tested the cable that it is plugged into, could potentially be a damaged cable if its not working.

If you know the IP address you should be able to SSH into it from there where you can see what the inform url is set to. At the Busybox cmd prompt type info to get the current status. This way when you reset a UAP to factory and it gets a new IP it will be able to resolve your controller.

I would stick a laptop on the same port as the AP connects to. See what IP it gets and test to see if you can reach the controller. What does the INFO command return?

In it's current star I cannot SSH into it or indeed ping it. It is plugged into a switch that has 9 PCs running from it and on one of those PCs yesterday I was logged into the controller. I shall try both the port with a laptop and moving the AP to a another slot on the switch an see how it goes.

Thanks again for your reply m25man.

Last edited 17th December at AM. I have plugged my lappy into the port and can ping unifi and get a response. Do I need to fix something there? I seem to be having a similar problem where our UAP is flashing orange every second which means its initializing and doesn't seem to stop, factory reset has done nothing just keeps flashing and I am unable to ping.

As your log shows the UAP is unable to resolve your controller url. You can set-inform manually to see if that resolves it.

You can easily set them up if you have a Unifi Security Gateway.

A four car garage extends the footprint even farther to the south, and because I use WiFi-controller irrigation controllers and look things up on my phone while performing auto maintenance, I need good WiFi signal in the garage, too. We also spend a lot of time in the summer in the back yard, so I also want WiFi coverage outside.

Both devices have been replaced by newer and faster technologies. That meant I had a total of 5 devices transmitting WiFi signal throughout the house. Using multiple access points throughout the house has its drawbacks.

Plus, they look awesome, like a flying saucer:. In general, operating in the 5 GHz range is almost always superior to the 2. If your existing router is located anywhere near where you want to install your UAP-PRO, it will be easiest to run a network cable from any of the LAN switch ports not the WAN port of your existing wireless router to the desired install location. I centered it visually with the hallway lights, checked from the attic to make sure that space was open on the other side no air ducts or studsthen mounted the included plastic bracket into the ceiling drywall using the included molly bolts and screws.

I plugged my 5-port network switch into the battery backup, as well as the plug for the Ubiquiti power injector. I now had power and network connection ready to go. After a few moments, the LED ring on the front of the unit lit up, indicating that the unit was powering up. It looked pretty cool! It will take a minute to initialize. Once in the Dashboardclick on the Devices icon in the left column. That might make it easier to find. It will take a while for it to join your network.

Once it does, go back into the Settings icon at the bottom of the Dashboard and go through the following Menu items:. Site : Choose any site name you want like Jenkins Housethen choose your Country and the local time zone. I recommend turning on Automatically upgrade AP firmware. Leave everything else at the defaults. Exit back out to the Dashboard with the X in the top right corner. You really will notice a huge difference.

Go outside and test it there, too.

I had planned to use a second antenna to blast WiFi into my back yard, but a single UAP-PRO covers more than enough area for our needs… even outside the house. Since installing it, nobody in the family has complained once about WiFi coverage or speeds anywhere in the house.

If you run into any trouble, I highly recommend checking out the Ubiquiti forums. I said "goodbye" to a couple of good friends today when I asked them to step down and retire after Ubiquiti 48V power inector.I have an initial design sketched out, but I am running into some potential issues that I would like to clarify before starting.

The SSID Overhead Calculator was a real eye-opener, although the article is getting a bit dated, so I'm not sure how much this concern has changed. Matt Olan gave a great presentation on this back when he was hosting the Spiceworks group in Calgary, and I may finally get a chance to use it! The Staff network was a great recommendation from an IT consultant friend. It would allow employee-owned devices access to wireless internet without having to use expiring access tokens, but would isolate those devices from the corporate LAN, and still allow me to manage those devices and their internet access using our FortiGate firewalls.

The Corporate network would give full access to the local LAN, as we are a manufacturing facility, and have some systems in Production that need to connect to the LAN via wireless.

I had issues with this when I had first tried it a while ago, but managed to get it running as a service without issues this time. The management portal needs to be running to use the captive portal.

There are some great traffic shaping options with Ubiquiti, but these appear to be more per-client than per-network. My primary issue is access to the UniFi management controller for the captive portal. I could live without this, but I would really like to use the access tokens. There is also a lot of isolation functionality with the UniFi controller - maybe I am overthinking this, and I should just stick to the Ubiquiti solutions, rather than trying to set up all the VLANs for isolation through the switches and firewall?

Do I require Ubiquiti switches to use this functionality? As far as your running as a service issue, which it sounds like you may have fixed. I used to run the windows version which required you to log in and launch the java app everytime.

I switched to the Ubuntu server version which runs all the time by default. It has been much less maintenance since. For the other issue. I have my wifi setup on a different port on the firewall and use the firewall's dhcp server to assign addresses.

It basically goes straight out to the internet. I can setup zone to zone rules to allow certain devices from the wifi to the lan or dmz networks by their mac address.

You should be able to do a similar setup, then just turn on the guest portal and create an ssid for that and use it as the guest network and allow the unifi controller to handle that and use tokens as you mentioned.

I've done something similar for clients that had a guest wireless networks. The thing that sits in the corner and controls the color of your lightbulbs, do not need to have access to the same network as your other data. This makes sense, as once they are configured all they do is communicate out to their respective cloud services — and the management apps for them connect to that service, not directly to the device itself.

This also makes sense, since these devices are supposed to receive data from your your other devices - directly. My primarily use case for them is Spotify Connect so I can stream music to my stereo setups I have an old analog NAD receiver with some nice Dali speakers that do not have digital connections at allso being able to actually stream music to them is rather useful.

Note: The following information was correct at the time of posting, based on a setup with 1 x UniFi Security Gateway 3P 4. Once you have this network in place, be it either via WiFi or via physical VLAN tagging on a switch port or bothyou can start moving your devices over.

These devices then got a new IP assigned to them from the new network definition, and their management apps still worked without problems. In short, this means that connections that are already in place, or related to those established connections will be allowed.

Give the rule a name that makes sense, enable it and expand Advanced. Find States and select Established and Related. Then go to Destinationselect Network again, and choose the network your regular devices is located in.

Now, you can start moving your streaming devices. Michael Ryom has come up with a recipe for enabling Sonos Wireless Speakers in a similar setup. Check his tweet for screenshots. See his About page for more details, or find him on Twitter.

The AP is flashing yellow so it is getting power. I have had links go down in remote buildings that feed the backbone connection to the Ubiquiti server controller software. That causes a disconnect to show. Merely correcting the downed link causes that AP to be recognized and it reconnects to the server and becomes available. You said yours is yellow?!? It will also display the location of the AP on the map. Steady Green Indicates the device has been successfully integrated into a network and is working properly.

Steady Green with occassional flashing Indicates the device is in an isolated state all WLANS are brought down until an uplink is found. So if it never gets past this I think you may have a bad unit. There is a reset button on the bottom of the unit. I am using the POE injector which comes with the unit.

This AP was working for a year before disconnecting, which I believe was after a power outage. I will have to find the reset button as molan suggested. Just ran into the same thing. Connected and seem to drop after adopting. Here is the sequence that worked for me:.

I don't know how to resolve this issue please tell me resolution to resolve this issue. After changing that i was able to re-addopt the outdoor uap pro, i also gave it a static IP just in case. Now i have to do the same with the indoor uap pro. I have the same problem. One of total 6 Unifi AP is disconnect status and now to isolated status. Then i disconnected the UAP and reconnected it to my regular network, ssh'd into it again and again gave the set-inform command, only now with the IP from my real UNIFI controller, adopted it, and finally it is working now as it should.

Full disclosure, power surge during a storm fried the original FiOS router is was connected to would power on so we got a new one. The AP on the other hand is still getting power through the injector light is on solid AMBER after factory reset - but I suppose it is possible some other internals are fried.

My whole issue was I was running a web server with port so nothing would connect, I just SSH'd into it and changed it and it worked fine after that. To continue this discussion, please ask a new question.
